Dr. Asadullah Ahmed is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist at BasePoint Frisco, dedicated to helping adolescents, emerging adults, and their families navigate mental health challenges with compassion, expertise, and a developmentally informed approach. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and has served in psychiatric leadership and medical director roles throughout his career.
Inspired by his work in adult psychiatry, Dr. Ahmed recognized that many psychiatric conditions can be traced back to childhood and adolescence. This realization fueled his passion for understanding how developmental experiences, family dynamics, genetics, and environmental factors influence mental health across the lifespan. Through specialized fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry, he developed expertise in early identification and intervention, with a focus on helping young people receive support before challenges become more deeply entrenched.
Dr. Ahmed believes that effective treatment begins with understanding the whole person. Rather than viewing symptoms in isolation, he considers each child’s developmental stage, family system, cultural background, school environment, and life experiences. He values strong collaboration with parents, caregivers, and other supportive adults, recognizing that meaningful progress is often achieved through a team-based approach to care.
What continues to motivate Dr. Ahmed is the opportunity to change the trajectory of a young person’s life. Having witnessed the long-term impact of untreated mental health conditions, he is passionate about promoting early intervention, improving access to care, and supporting healthy emotional development. His goal is to help adolescents and emerging adults build resilience, strengthen coping skills, and develop the foundation they need to thrive both now and in the future. Dr. Ahmed is proud to be part of BasePoint’s continued growth, helping extend specialized mental health services to more adolescents, emerging adults, and families throughout the communities we serve.
